KLEIN LIONS CLUB
In your neighborhood of Klein is a best-keep secret, the Klein Lions Club. Meeting the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at Raouls’, the Klein Lions are part of one of the world’s largest service organizations, Lions International. Helen Keller challenged Lions to be knights of the blind and hard of hearing. Ask around; you may meet someone who received a cornea transplant, eyeglasses, or attended the Lions Camp in Kerrville.
Lions members look for ways to serve neighbors. Most clubs have a connection with a school district, partnering with the school nurses who know of children whose families are unable to purchase their much-needed eyeglasses. Local optometrists share in this endeavor.
The Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor is a source for corneas for transplant. Residents of Texas are first in line to receive an available cornea. Do consider being a donor and give the gift of sight.
Worldwide, Lions have done much to eliminate preventable blindness, such as ‘River Blindness.’
Free camping for children with disabilities and diabetes at an Ocha-approved camp is dear to a Lions heart. We also provide bus transportation if parents are unable to make the trip to Kerrville.
Will you please assist the Klein Lions as we prepare for a fundraiser to support our charities? We are accepting items for a rummage sale to be held October 2nd at the lot provided by Ace Hardware at Louetta and Theiss Mail. No clothing, please.
You may call Lions Kay & Bill Hughes for pickup at 281-251-4544.
